As a result of the recent Black Forest fire many El Paso County residents have lost their homes, suffered severe damages to those homes that remain standing and in some tragic circumstance lost loved ones. Although there are many resources out being offered to meet the Black Forest fire victims immediate food and shelter needs, finding assistance with insurance, medical and victim fund claims can be difficult. Fortunately, various Colorado Bar Associations have stepped up to offer legal assistance to those victims who might have questions about what steps to take next.
The El Paso County Bar Association has representatives available at the Citizens Service Center at 1675 W. Garden of the Gods Road to answer legal questions for the victims of the fire. “No appointment necessary.”
The El Paso County Bar Association has also set up a Call-A-Lawyer telephone line for victims to call. The line will only be operational between the hours of 7:00pm and 9:00pm on Thursday, June 20, 2013. The telephone number to call is: (719) 471-0380.
Similarly, the Denver Bar Association (in association with 9News) has dedicated Lawline 9, the legal advice hotline, to serve victims of the Black Forest fire with legal questions about the fire.
Many other Bar Associations also offer legal assistance to those in need, including, but not limited to the American Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association. For more information, visit the websites for those Bar Associations directly.
