Estate Planning

Crafting an estate plan is a very personal process, yet can also be very complex. We recognize this and are committed to providing expert legal services, while doing so in a caring and respectful manner. When we speak of Estate Planning, generally we are talking about two areas. The first is Wills, Trusts and Wealth Succession. We provide services in this area ranging from a basic will, to more complex documents designed to navigate tax laws and facilitate the transfer of wealth. Closely held or family owned businesses are a staple of our practice. The second area is End of Life Care or Long Term Medical Planning for you or a loved one. This is generally accomplished with documents such as a Medical Power of Attorney, Living WillGuardianships or Conservatorships, or a Special Needs Trust.

We begin the estate planning process by gathering information from you so that we may examine your asset base and individual situation. This is done by filling out our Estate Planning Questionnaire and scheduling a free consultation at our office. The information you provide to us in the Questionnaire will be subject to attorney-client privilege, and held strictly confidential. Generally, we ask you to bring this document to your first meeting with us if possible. After meeting with you and discussing the document, we usually have the necessary information to move forward with your estate plan. In some cases, a very basic will and medical documents are sufficient. In other cases, the planning will be more in depth and complex.
